MINISTRY VALUES and STRATEGY
1. The Head Womens Basketball Coach must be committed to the Lordship of Christ. This not only means having the correct intellectual belief, but it involves a radical transformation in every area of ones lifestyle. The Coach must continually seek opportunities to grow and possess strong character traits through the regular practicing of the spiritual disciplines (e.g. prayer, meditation, Bible reading) and develop ministry values that express what God can do in impacting student athletes with whom they interact.
2. The Coach's ministry strategy is to serve student athletes and the entire campus by creating a spiritually rich environment supporting community development, quality programs and exciting innovative initiatives.
3. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate teaching competence and integration of personal faith and the truths of Christianity with instruction in the classroom and on the field.
The reporting relationship is split between the Athletics Director and the Chair of the Division of Health and Human Performance. For Athletics, the primary responsibilities are to direct, support and supervise a successful intercollegiate womens basketball program representing assistant coaches and student athletes. The Head Coach is responsible for the basketball budget, strategic planning, facilities, policies, compliance, scholarships, promotion and leadership of the team. The Head Coach will also be assigned a teaching load to be determined on the basis of background and experience.
1. Request, monitor, and oversee any budgetary responsibilities as assigned.
2. Participate as requested in committees, councils or professional organizations that pertain to this position. Attendance at chapel services is encouraged.
3. Counsel with students and refer as necessary regarding spiritual, personal, emotional or academic problems.
4. Maintain a professional image and manner consistent with Indiana Wesleyan University's mission and goals. Support the policies of the student handbook with integrity.
5. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor and create an environment of quality and innovation.
6. Work within Athletic Department to foster an environment of cooperation and unity.

Ability to consistently demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with internal and external constituencies. The ability to remain calm in crisis situations, act decisively, and apply sound judgment in determining appropriate action regarding interventions, assistance and referral of students to other university staff members.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Bachelors degree is required. A Masters degree is preferred.
Minimum of three to five years experience in athletic administration is required; collegiate experience preferred.
WORK SCHEDULE: This is a 12 month contract with a standard work; nights and weekends may be required.
